Volunteer Opportunities

We have many ways for newcomers to get involved in church life. Our goal is to provide a spiritual community for connection and personal growth.

Committees

Unitarian Universalist Church of Athens and Sheshequin has a high rate of participation among its members. Members and friends of the church volunteer at different levels to make ours a vibrant community that is open and affirming. Here are some ways members contribute to church life.

Board of Trustees - Provide vision and directions to the congregation

Worship Committee - Plans and leads lay-led services

Fellowship Committee - Organizes fun activities that bring people together.

Adult Religious Education Committee - Plans and leads workshops to develop our spiritual connections

Youth and Children Religious Education Committee - Teaches UU principles and values in classroom setting using UU curriculum.

Social Justice Committee - Provides outreach to make our local and world community a better place for everyone.

Choir We have an active choir. Everyone is invited. No experience necessary.

Feed a Friend Service Project - Provides healthy food and nutritional education to a local charity serving people in need.

One of the hallmarks of most UU congregations is our Social Justice orientation and activities.

UUCAS received the Beacon of Hope Award from the Unitarian Service Committee for its participating in the Guest At Your Table Program to share our Unitarian Universalist principles and to challenge injustice throughout the world.
